Executive Vice President
Consulting Actuary, Kansas City
Gary served as the Managing Principal of the Kansas City office from 2001-2018. His nearly 40 years with the firm brings a wealth of experience to draw upon as L&E continues its successful journey into the 21st century. Growing up in Nebraska attending the University of Nebraska Gary quickly determined that actuarial science was his career path with his first job placing him in Galveston, Texas with American National. Programming was a daily part of the routine that helped build a detailed understanding of insurance and its intricacies. Gary’s knowledge of the insurance industry broadened greatly as he moved into the consulting arena in 1979 with L&E. By now he pretty much has seen it all from pricing and projections to acquisitions and valuations. He has provided testimony as an expert witness and learned the differences between statutory and GAAP accounting. When not pouring over some actuarial report or listening to the Grateful Dead you might find Gary out on the golf course working on his game or spending time with his family.
Gary, Max J. Rudolph of Rudolph Financial Consulting LLC, and Russel L. Sutter of Towers Watson presented the Best Practices for an Insurance Consulting Actuary to Apply the ASOPs webinar which was moderated by J.P. Neal of Towers Watson and cosponsored by the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries.
Facilitator at the Valuation Actuary Symposium's Smaller Company Chief Actuaries Forum in Scottsdale, AZ. He was one of the facilitators for Workshop 28S - Statutory Valuation of Life Insurance.
