Mike’s former career as a college mathematics professor is where he learned to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally. Since then, Mike has gained over 12 years of actuarial experience, focusing on health insurance. Mike’s experience includes big data analytics, ACA implementation, individual & commercial group pricing, trend studies, self-insured analytics, rate engine development, financial forecasting, rate filing, rate review, and grant applications. More recently, Mike developed an ACA rating region methodology and presented the actuarial justification to a large group of health insurance stakeholders including beneficiary advocates, state legislators, DOI representatives and insurance companies among others. While away from work, Mike enjoys quality time with his wife, family and friends, particularly sporting events, concerts or motorcycle rides.
