Katie brings a diverse background of experience through her over 20 years of actuarial work experience in regulatory, insurance company and consulting environments. Katie joined Lewis & Ellis in 2015. Katie’s background is in property & casualty insurance pricing, reserving and financial reporting. Katie develops unpaid claim liability estimates in her roles as appointed actuary, audit actuary, self-insured actuary and examination actuary. As a regulatory actuary, Katie has been responsible for reviewing property and casualty insurance rate filings for both personal and commercial lines as well as working on insurance fund adequacy and company solvency. Katie’s property and casualty insurance company experience has included developing rate indications, catastrophe modeling and developing and supporting rate filings. She consistently strives for effective communication to both actuaries and non-actuaries. Katie is motivated to help her clients work through problems and build efficiencies. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering and listening to music.
Katie has been a speaker at several industry conferences. This includes the CAS Ratemaking, Product and Modeling Seminar, the CAS Professional Education Webinar series, the CAS Enterprise Risk Management Symposium, the Farm Bureau Actuarial Conference and the Society of Financial Examiners’ Career Development Seminar. In addition to industry conferences, Katie has also conducted continuing education training sessions on insurance pricing and reserving techniques to risk specialists working in practice areas such as claims and underwriting.
