A recent survey found that close to sixty percent of workers want the option to buy life insurance through an employer.

However, the majority of those who don't have that coverage say it's because their work simply doesn't offer it.

Other polls have found workers don't do enough to really understand the benefits being offered to them, or didn't understand how valuable life insurance can be.

In fact, almost forty percent of respondents in a separate survey said they were average or below-average at handling their finances, and many don't have life insurance as a result.

Consumers routinely don't have life insurance because they dramatically overestimate its cost, or do not know how easy the sign-up process can be.

For all these reasons, employers and insurers alike have a bigger role to play in helping people find the coverage they need.
